Sign up for this year's fall clean up!
This year we are working with local Area Agency on Aging chapters throughout SE Michigan If you are interested in participating with a local youth group in your area helping to clean up local community areas and senior homes (leaf raking, yard clean up, etc.) click here to be placed on our participatant's list. We will contact your approximately 2-3 weeks before a clean-up is scheduled in your areas. We're Hoping To Have A New Community Center Soon!
The KenMat Foundation is current looking for a new location for a
youth center. Plans for the new center include a library to
assist our reading program, computer lab, a kitchen for cooking
classes, and 2 acres set aside for a garden The
final decision for the location will be based upon the need of the
surrounding communities along with access to surrounding
communities/suburbs in which our youth live & visit. Classes teaching basic computer skills taught by
experienced volunteer staff. The youth center is proposed to be
open Sunday - Thursday.
The plans for the community center also include areas to be set
aside for the distribution of donated items to be given free to the
public (i.e. clothing, food, etc.).
Plans also include classrooms designed for teaching healthy living.
Interest in healthy cooking, vegetarian cooking, and exercise
classes has been expressed by our young people.
This community center will serve as the hub for directing all the
activities which are carried out in metro Detroit & its surrounding
communities. Activities include community service projects,
meal serving programs, and various training programs.
