How do I Backup my Data Files?
Answer:
The following
information will help you to
back-up your data from your
My Documents folder on your
hard drive to and external
hard drive or flash drive.
(Backup
Drive)
These
directions should work for
any folder you are backing
up, simply substitute the
desired folder name for “My
Documents”
RIGHT click once
on the START button.
LEFT click on
EXPLORE
Find the My
Documents folder on the left
side of the screen.
LEFT click once
to highlight.
RIGHT click once
on the yellow folder that says
My Documents and select Copy
with the LEFT click.
Find your
BACKUP DRIVE: (If you are
backing up to a flash drive or
disk, browse to whatever drive
your media points to such as A:,
D:, or E: drive. )
RIGHT click once
on your BACKUP DRIVE and
select Paste with the LEFT
click.
Once finished
verify that your My Documents
Folder was copied to your
BACKUP DRIVE.
Copying data
files to the
BACKUP DRIVE
Right click on My
Documents under the staff
directory
Select COPY (left
click)
Scroll down to
your
BACKUP DRIVE
RIGHT click on
the U: drive and select PASTE
Verify that your
files have copied to the
BACKUP DRIVE.

How can I locate a file?
Answer:
Select MY
COMPUTER Icon from your desktop.
Select Drive C, U, T (one at a
time to locate your file) On
your mouse, Right Click and
Select Find. Insert the Name of
your file and Select Find Now.
Continue to do this procedure
until you have located your
file.

Is there another place where I
can access ClipArt other than
what's on my computer?
Once in your
application, click Insert, click
on ClipArt, click on Clips
Online. This will take you to
the Microsoft website. Type in
what you're looking for and
Search. When you have found what
you want, click to download. The
ClipArt will be put in your
Downloaded Folder in MS ClipArt.
Once downloaded, right click on
clip art and left click on
Insert. The clip art will be
inserted into document.

How do I view an Office 2007
document, if I have Office 2003
version?
Answer:
To open, edit or
save an Office 2007 application,
click
HERE to go to the Microsoft
Website to download the
Compatibility Pack.

How do I filter Junk/Spam
Emails?
Answer:
SPAM EMAILS:
To check your
settings, in the Outlook Web
Access, click Options and verify
that the Junk Email Filter is
enabled or checked, Save and
Close the Options window.
As junk or spam
email is sent to you, it will
automatically be moved to your
Junk E-mail Folder. Any
legitimate and valid emails will
still be set to your Inbox.
(Remember to check the Junk
folder periodically for email
that may be diverted to this
folder by mistake.)
As always, please
delete the Junk emails
periodically, as you do for the
other mailboxes. Remember to
then Delete Items from the
Deleted Folder.

How do I add a SIGNATURE to my
Outlook emails?
Answer:
Click on Tools,
Options, Mail Format,
Signatures. Type your Signature
in the box (ie. name, building,
address, phone number, etc.)
Click OK, then OK again.

How do I create a .pst folder in
my email?
Answer:
PLEASE NOTE: .pst
folders are only available on
the Outlook Client version , it
is not accessible through Web
Access.
On the File menu,
point to New, and then click
Outlook Data File.
Select Office
Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst),
and then click OK.
In the File name
box, type a name for the file,
and then click OK.
In the Name box,
type a display name for the .pst
folder.
The name of the
folder that is associated with
the data file appears in the
Folder List. To view the Folder
List, on the Go menu, click
Folder List. By default, the
folder will be called Personal
Folders.

No Power
Answer:
Is the computer
plugged in? Check power cords
and power strip.
Make sure the
power button has been turned on
both computer and monitor.
Plug another
device in to verify electrical
outlet is working.
Are other people
in area having the same problem?
Check circuit breaker

Basic Computer Troubleshooting:
Computer Lockups
Answer:
Is the keyboard
locked up? Use the NUM lock key
to test; does the light go on or
off when typed? Have you check
the cable connections? If all
else fails, reboot. If it does,
wait a minute for the computer
to end the process it's
completing.
Use the ALT+F4
key to close the program that is
locked up.
If the computer
doesn't respond to the
CTRL+ALT+DEL keys to reboot,
hold the power button in on the
computer for 5-6 seconds to
shutdown the computer.

What Preventative Maintenance
can I do on my computer?
Answer:
This should be
run at least ONCE A MONTH:
Under the
START-PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-SYSTEMS
TOOLS, run the Disk Cleanup.
This will delete files that are
no longer needed by the system.
Under the
START-PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-SYSTEM
TOOLS, run the Disk Defragmenter
to optimize your hard drive.
This consolidates the files for
quicker hard drive access.
Clear Internet
Cache - Open IE, go to Tools,
Internet Options, General Tab,
Browsing History and delete
temporary history, cookies and
passwords.
Allow Symantec
Anti-Virus to run a complete
scan of your comptuer to make
sure there are no viruses or
spyware on your computer that
could cause problems.
